కనకాచలం గారు – శ్రీమతి సీతాయమ్మ దంపతుల ఏకైక పుత్రుడు శ్రీ సోమానందరావు గారు నరసాపురంలోని ప్రతిష్ఠాత్మకమైన “టైలరు హైస్కూలు” లో విద్యాభ్యాసం సాగించారు.
అణు ఇంధన సంస్థ (ఎన్.ఎఫ్.సి.) లో ఉద్యోగం సాధించుకున్న సోమానందరావు గారిలో అతి కాలంలోనే నాయకత్వ లక్షణాలు పాడచూపాయి. ఎన్.ఎఫ్.సి. ఎంప్లాయీస్ అసోసియేషన్లో తరువాత ఆల్ ఇండియా ట్రేడ్ యూనియన్ కాంగ్రెస్ (ఎ.ఐ.టి.యు.సి.)లో సభ్యులై, ఎన్.ఎఫ్.సి.లో తిరుగులేని నాయకులుగా ఎదిగారు.

I am very happy to know that a souvenir is being brought out on the occasion of the retirement of Sri A. Somananda Rao from Government Service. I happened to know Sri Somanada Rao over long years as a young Labour Leader in his early age. He was remarkable as General Secretary of the Employees Union comprising of above four thousand people, with a very agreeable temperament to both the management and the Union Members. He had an illustrious career professionally and also brought up his three children with very good education to be in responsible positions in USA, today.
His approach has been very useful in most critical stages of relations and his amicable temperament used to resolve many issues without confrontations. He looks to me still young and active and I wish him a long happy healthy and prosperous life.

Shri A. Somananda Rao will be attaining the age of superannuation on 30th September, 2005 after dedicated service of 35 years at NFC, most of which has been spent for maintenance and development activities of fuel group. Due to his dedicated service, knowledge in the subject and leadership qualities, he has been promoted to the grade of Foreman in the year 1996.
Apart from technical jobs, he has worked for welfare of workmen and while doing so, he has always remembered the main philosophy of the department. Some of his technical contributions have improved the availability and productivity for few critical equipments. I know Shri Rao personally for last 20 years. His contributions for fuel group will be always remembered.

I am associated with Com Somanada Rao in the years 1981–84 when I was the President of NFC Employees association (NFCEA). NFCEA was formed in November 1972. Com. Rao joined the association and was elected as treasurer in 1973–74. It was in 1979 that Com. Rao was elected as General Secretary of the NFCEA and continued up to 1984. In 1984, Com. Rao was elected as staff secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy, representing about 40,000 employees.
Com. Rao was promoted as supervisor in 1996 and since then he was out of the union activities but his service to the employees of NFC through NFCEA is unforgettable. I wish that Com. Rao should live with full good health & prosperity along with his family during his retired life.

Shri A. Somananda Rao, Foreman (C) is retiring on superannuation on 30th September 2005, after rendering 35 years of dedicated service in NFC. Shri Somananda Rao has shown keen interest in the welfare of fellow employees. He was associated with NFC Employees Association (NFCEA) right from its inception in the year 1973 and was subsequently elected as Treasurer in the year 1974. The activities of Shri Somananda Rao were not confined within the four walls of NFC. He was elected as Secretary, Staff side of Departmental council, DAE during the year 1984, representing then around 40,000 and odd DAE employees. On behalf of all NUFCOSSA members I wish him a very happy, healthy and long retired life.

విదేశీసంస్థలతో వ్యాపారం నిర్వహించిన మా నాన్నగారు శ్రీ అడబాల కనకాచలం గారు నన్ను విదేశాలకు పంపించి ఉన్నత విద్యను అందజేసి, గొప్పవానిగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలని కలలు కనేవారు. అయితే అనుకోని కారణాల వలన ఆయన వ్యాపారం 1955వ సం॥లో దెబ్బతినడంతో ఆయన కలలు, కలలుగానే మిగిలిపోయాయి.
మా అబ్బాయిల సహ్యదయత వలన, నేను నా శ్రీమతి అడబాల రత్నకుమారి పలుమార్లు అమెరికా, యూరోప్ దేశాలను సందర్చిన అవకాశం చిక్కింది. అలాగే మా నాన్నగారి కోరిక కూడా తీరినట్లయినది.
విదేశీపర్యటనలు – నా అనుభవాలు:
1998లో మొదటిసారిగా నేను నా శ్రీమతి అమెరికాకు పర్యటించడం జరిగింది. సుమారు మూడు నెలలపాటు మా అబ్బాయిలతో సరదాగా, ఆనందంగా గడిపినాము. అమెరికాలో భారతీయ పండుగలైన హోళి, ఉగాది ఎంతో వైభవంగా జరుపుకోవడం చాలా ఆనందాన్ని కళ్ళించింది. ముఖ్యంగా అక్కడి తెలుగువారు ఉగాది పండుగ జరుపుకునే తీరు నిజంగా ప్రశంసనీయం.
మా పెద్ద అబ్బాయి చి॥ శ్రీనివాసరావు వివాహం చి॥అ॥శా॥ కుసుమ తో జరిగాక – మళ్ళీ 1999లో మా దంపతులిరువురు మా అబ్బాయి కొలక్షపై అమెరికాకు వెళ్ళాము. ఆ సందర్భంలో మరికొన్ని కొత్త ప్రదేశాలను సందర్శించే అవకాశం కళ్ళింది.

దేశీయ పర్యటన – తీపి అనుభవాలు
ప్రపంచ విస్తీర్ణంతో మన భారతదేశ విస్తీర్ణం పోల్చుకొంటే ఏడవస్థానము కలిగియున్నది. అటు ఉత్తరాది నుండి దక్షిణాది వరకు, ఇటు తూర్పు నుండి పడమర వరకు సహజ వనరులు, ప్రకృతి అందాలు మంత్రముగ్ధులను చేసే అతి అద్భుతమైన శిల్పనైపుణ్యం గల గుడులు, గోపురాలు మరియు గంగా, యమునా, సరస్వతి, కావేరి, గోదావరి మొ॥ అనేక నదులు ప్రవహించచూ పాడిపంటలు, పండ్ల తోటలు సాగు చేయుటకు సారవంతమైన భూమి కలిగిన దేశము.
